California's Rove picks Canada for its first move abroad
California vape brand Rove has started selling outside the United States for the first time. It has gone to Ontario, Canada, with a compact vape made from crystals, in three strains.
Founded in 2016, Rove is a California brand that makes vapes and pre-rolls. On September 30 it announced its launch in Ontario. Retailers order through the province's official wholesaler, and the products are already on shelves.
What it brought is the Diamond Series Minibar, a compact all-in-one vape. Diamond-like crystals are slowly drawn out of flower that was frozen right after harvest, then turned to liquid and filled into the device.
It comes in three strains: Granddaddy Purp, Skywalker OG and Blue Dream. The company says the formulations are the same as those it sells in the United States.
The company's president says Rove had had its eye on Canada for years. It plans to expand to other provinces over the coming months.
Rove is sold in more than 3,000 stores across 16 US states, and its annual revenue is over 100 million dollars, according to the company. Even for a brand of that size, this is its first time crossing a border. It may mark the start of American brands heading overseas.
